As of 2006[update], he lives in Queens, New York (with his wife Sara Bee Jensen, a textile designer). His day job is project manager for GameLab. In parallel, he is a cartoonist with several works published, such as his 1998-1999 strip "A Short and Happy Life" in The Stranger (Seattle weekly), various short comics in anthologies (Top Shelf, About Comics, and Alternative Comics), and more on the way: his 300-page graphic novel Red Eye, Black Eye, after being serialized from 2002 to 2005 as a webcomic on Serializer, was released in January 2007 by Alternative Comics.

Jensen has appeared on a number of television programs, including The People Of New York Vs. Jerry Sadowitz in 2001, Blind Date in 2005 (where he alleged that he had appeared in a string of homosexual porn movies),[1] and Cash Cab in 2006. He also was featured on bottles of "Fruit Punch" Jones Soda[2]

In the summer of 1992, Robert Jazz, Frank Difficult and myself started The Providence Film Group. We were all regulars at AS220 (a free art space and social scene) and the idea was to have the group be the official film branch of AS220. The core members of were the 3 of us, Guy Benoit, Dave Santuri, Mark Elliott, and Jim Donahue. Many other people came and went (mostly went) but we were the constants.

Our first year of existence saw a lot of cool projects completed including the multimedia Robert Jazz Festival, my short film "Bloody Bookstore", several installments of Dave’s "Masked Man" series and a experimental short from Mr. Benoit.

We were going great guns until several discouraging events took place. First of all, we were informed that we would not be welcomed to join AS220 at their new location. Why this happened is still a mystery to me because it was all set to go. Maybe Jenny Kilenburg can answer that one.

Secondly, 2 members (who shall remain nameless) decided to branch out into soft-core porn and use our meeting place (Newspeak Books) as their audition locale.

Finally there was the Film Group 1st Anniversary celebration. My idea. It should have been a snap. We had already done the Robert Jazz festival and could do this kind of thing in our sleep. Show a few films, play some music, no problem. I even secured legendary tv horror host John Zacherley to mc the event.

From the start there was a big change in attitude from everybody. It was STAR time. The egos were out of control. I was as much to blame as anyone. I let my girlfriend at the time design the set and she proceeded to take over the whole thing and pretty much make everyone feel really bad. I should have stepped up and taken control but i didn’t. Shame on me.

The event turned out pretty good actually. Zacherley was great. A total professional. The films were a hit and besides a few glitches here and there, it was a good time.
But the bad taste remained.

The Providence Film Group limped along for a few more months but with a whole new cast.
I miss it though and wish we could have continued. The best part of the whole experience is the fact that my most lasting friendships were formed during that period. Best friends that I still have to this day. Things happen for a reason right?

Anyway, I love all of you guys.

I’l be writing more reminisences in the days and months to come.

Portal of Evil provides a forum for each website listed, as well as extra forums for general discussion [7]. Forumgoers are given loose reins: as long as a thread begins on-topic, posters are generally free to move on to other topics or flame other posters. The largest flamewars tend to occur when a site's webmaster or users discover their site's listing and, offended by the comments, begin posting in its defense. In spite of Forum Posting Rule 8, which states "Play nice. This is all in fun and never taken anyone serious." [1], forum users often post comments which site owners regard as malicious. The users violate terms of service and make false complaints, spam message boards and try getting your service provider to drop your service.

Webmasters of listed sites often do not discover that they have been listed. This is due to the restriction placed on Portal of Evil users, informally dubbed the "Prime Directive" or "PD", which states that users of the site may not contact or communicate with the owners of listed sites in any way with the single exception of PoE's own hosted forums, under threat of banning[8]. The reason for the Prime Directive is that any contact with the site in question could irrevocably alter it and perhaps cause it to disappear from the web altogether, denying future readers of the Portal their enjoyment. Many users violate the 'prime directive'... many flame wars and trolling have caused serious threats and court actions.

Portal of Evil has spawned several related sites. K Thor Jensen is now harassing users as an editor at livejournal.com.
POE News is a news portal of user-submitted links to interesting and unusual articles from media outlets across the globe, somewhat like a more liberal-leaning douche baggery, Drudge Report. POE News also features busy discussion forums, in its case one for each news item. Many users have migrated over to abuse the livejournal system. Most notably misstia.com who
continues her obsession with the madman poe members have harassed for years, the band beph.

Recent additions to POE News include user forums, allowing registered users a place to post about personal or otherwise off-topic subjects, and two new sections for news submissions: The Buzz, covering recent journals and blogs, and POETV, covering television, movie, music, video game, and celebrity news. Another idea currently being phased in is a section where users can create discussion forums for any specific item in the same categories as POETV.

Bidboy follows on the general theme, pointing to unusual and exotic auctions on eBay.
Evil Email offers email accounts at over 100 domain names, many of them humorous or offensive.
POE Hosting offers web hosting and domain registration. Ebay is a rip off, all users of the internet
know Ebay is a den of thieves and they support this lame website and Chesters fantasies.

Do Not Reply is a blog run by Chet Faliszek, about the antics of spammers and spyware makers who render web/email administration difficult, and companies who thoughtlessly and very insecurely use his domain (donotreply.com) in the reply fields of internal e-mails. Poor Chester...

POE Sports was created in 2004, and is a POE News-like site devoted to irreverent coverage of sports-related stories. The site runs a fantasy football league with a twist: the winning participant is the one that drafts the lowest-performing players (Kordell Stewart is particularly prized), with bonus points awarded for players prone to disciplinary and legal problems. While the fantasy football was popular, the discussion forums have not generated the same traffic levels as Portal of Evil or POE News.

Wicked Small Games, also created in 2004, is a site where users are encouraged to submit (mostly) free Flash or downloadable games they find interesting and/or fun, so that they can be played by, rated, and commented on by other users.

POE TV appeared in 2005; it is a website similar to Wicked Small Games where the idea is to submit and discuss video clips, most originating from Google Video or YouTube. While Wicked Small Games and POE TV have both drawn most of their user base from Portal of Evil, the discussion is somewhat more subdued since the aim of both sites is to be "safe for work".

Barstow, CA. At least, when mom looked up the area code, it said Barstow. When I looked it up, it said Palm Springs.

My parents live near Springs and are presently on vacation near Barstow. I'm gonna be a ball of nerves until they get home.

Oh, and KThor e-mailed me a link to a blogspot page (which I have taken screencaps of and reported to blogspot) that includes my full name, D's (misspelled) full name, and every address I've lived at for the last twenty years. Thor thinks he used one of those net detective things to get most of the info. In addition to the addresses and personal info, it says things like:

and includes pictures stolen from my journal.

I mean... Jesus. How detailed does a threat have to be before the police will take it seriously? This morning's voicemail to me said that if I don't get rid of the links and pictures on my page (which were gone by the time the call came), "things won't end the way I think they will"... which I find pretty threatening, since I think this will end when I get some legal action taken against the crazy freak.

I've updated my police report, including a request that the detective call the L.A. number, mention my name and just see what happens, I've downloaded an application for a PPO, and I've called a lawyer for a consult, left him a rather detailed voicemail.

I know that the one name is his real name for sure, but for this PPO app, I need an address and physical attributes. What I need for that is probably the arrest report from his fraud conviction, which, if I find out I really need it, ought to be available through FOIA.

i don't want to think any of the strange calls here (or the revolting anonymous lj replies to me in various communities) have been from the same source, and the fact is i'm still not answering the phone unless i recognize the number dialing in. over a year since the first time, and i can't answer the phone. i don't comment in communities now, either.

even back in the days when i was posting on poe-news (well over a year ago now, time flew) the party in question was of no interest to me in any way- and it is specifically because of harrassment like this that there are very few people from the internet with whom i correspond anymore. you're one of the good ones. i hope you can finally stop this creep.

Barstow, CA. At least, when mom looked up the area code, it said Barstow. When I looked it up, it said Palm Springs.

My parents live near Springs and are presently on vacation near Barstow. I'm gonna be a ball of nerves until they get home.

Oh, and KThor e-mailed me a link to a blogspot page (which I have taken screencaps of and reported to blogspot) that includes my full name, D's (misspelled) full name, and every address I've lived at for the last twenty years. Thor thinks he used one of those net detective things to get most of the info. In addition to the addresses and personal info, it says things like:

"davinciclone i'm closer then you think, it's only a matter of time now... lol..."

and includes pictures stolen from my journal.

I mean... Jesus. How detailed does a threat have to be before the police will take it seriously? This morning's voicemail to me said that if I don't get rid of the links and pictures on my page (which were gone by the time the call came), "things won't end the way I think they will"... which I find pretty threatening, since I think this will end when I get some legal action taken against the crazy freak.

I've updated my police report, including a request that the detective call the L.A. number, mention my name and just see what happens, I've downloaded an application for a PPO, and I've called a lawyer for a consult, left him a rather detailed voicemail.

Okay, it's time.
I've had this thing for awhile. I've checked out other people's journals, and seen the horrendous things they write about their friends, their family, even total strangers, for all to see.

And yet, these things never disappear when one person bitches. No, they just post, bitching, and there's more bitching in return. More about that in a while.

Well, it's time. I was prepared to let this go, but no. You want to start up on me, right where we left off? You want to start up again with the cease-and-desist e-mails and the threatening phone calls to my office? Fine, let's do this.

Up the top of my page there is a link to Portal of Evil. I've been a PoE regular for a good five, six years. Every day, there's something new to see, and some good discussions with a real collection of nutcases who I am filled with queer love for. In mid-2000, I was living in Phoenix, working in the advertising department of the Arizona Republic.

One day, one of the new links was to the website of a band. A really awful band, with a face-painted frontman with many names and no sense of humor. We'll pick a name, though. Let's call him "Bernie".

See, Bernie's one of those artists who can't take any criticism. The PoE crowd can be unforgiving--at best--but Bernie took being listed at PoE way too personally. He wrote e-mails, ostensibly from his esteemed yet non-existent lawyer, telling the guys who run PoE to remove the listing of his site. He flooded the site forum with long, rambling, nonsensical spam posts for reasons I have yet to fathom... I suppose he thought that a long text message would fuck up the boards. Who knows? The PoE crowd fired back, every time he posted. Next, he decided that he'd e-mail his cease-and-desist letter to random PoE people, specifically, everyone who'd submitted a story to PoE News that day.

This included me.

He sent it to my Hotmail account, and I got it at home, over a weekend. "What the fuck is this bullshit?" I thought. I decided it deserved a cute response, and so I let him have it. I don't remember everything I wrote, but I do recall somewhere in there threatening to sell his ass "on the streetcorner for nickels". I guess I must have thought I was dealing with someone with a sense of humor, since I was expecting an equally scathing, but hopefully humorous reply that had something in it I could work with. Instead, I got my own mail back with new headers. Not noticing that he had, in fact forwarded this e-mail to MSN's abuse department, I fired back again, no less complimentary than I had been the first time. After that, my Hotmail account disappeared. I notified everyone I knew to hit me at Yahoo instead, and I decided, "Hey, this is pretty good story. Let's write it up and post it to my Geocities page, that'll be fun." So I did. I built a little graphic to go with it, wrote it up, and linked it into my site.

Two days later, those links were dead, and the HTML page was simply gone out of my directory.

Seems that Geocities cows to public pressure very easily. If they get a complaint, they don't check to see if it's something that's truly offensive or if it's just one nutjob with several names bitching repeatedly. "Big deal," I said. "I've got the original page on disc, I'll wait a couple days and repost, this time with a disclaimer. Free speech, first amendment, this guy doesn't know the definition of slander, any criticism automatically BECOMES slander in this guy's mind, so fuck him." He started trying to get Yahoo to remove anything and everything he could think of... I'd done covers for several of the Pearl Jam bootlegs in my collection, posted them to my site, and he tried yelling "copyright infringement" on PJ's behalf (which never fails to make me giggle). Besides the fact that the band really doesn't care about live bootlegs, all the covers have "ALL MUSIC BY PEARL JAM UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED" and "THESE COVERS WERE DONE SIMPLY FOR FUN, AND ARE NOT INTENDED FOR SALE" written into them. In a flurry of mails that we sent to each other as well as to Yahoo's abuse department, he lost the case to get them taken down, and I figured that'd be a good time to re-post my story. This time, my disclaimer stayed when the actual story disappeared. At that point, I replaced my entire site with one page: a picture of myself with an angry expression and both hands covering my mouth. Below that, I placed the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution, and it stayed that way for quite some time.

Other friends from PoE were having their own troubles with Bernie. Chet, one of the creators of PoE, received several threatening e-mails and phone calls. He and his partner in PoE, K Thor, dug up weird, wild stories out of Eddie's past, and uncovered the fact that all of these people who were sending us e-mails were just Bernie himself. K Thor did a beautiful comic based on one of these stories, The Last Kiss (note: this is only one page. I'm not sure where the entire comic is, but it's online somewhere... this post will probably bring up someone with a link). My buddy Stork out in California ran an online music 'zine and recorded several hysterical interviews with the man himself. misstiajournal posted several fictional encounters with Bernie to her site and got her own rash of cease-and-desists. He sent all of us the "Snow White Porn" virus e-mail, even though none of us was dumb enough to open it. He followed the links on my site to the site of my then-girlfriend and harassed her, too.

Bernie had also found out where I was working, and he forwarded my less-than-complimentary e-mail to higher-ups and managers of the Gannett News Services in offices as far away as Honolulu and Guam. Fucking Guam. I was called on the carpet for that one, to be sure, but as I had sent those e-mails from my home IP, they wisely decided I could not be held responsible for it. Ever since I was let go from the Republic in 2001, Bernie has posted on several message boards that he "got me fired" from my job there. This is a blatant lie. While I was fired from the Republic, I accomplished that little trick all on my own. Of course, that's all water under the bridge and I'm in a better place now, but through this whole stupid, ugly, fucked-up process, that's the one truth I want known: Bernie did not get me fired.
One day in early 2001, my phone at the Republic rang.

"Advertising, this is Dan..."

"Hello, faggot."

"Oh. Hi." I am mortified. I'm surrounded by coworkers. My ad team was made up of six women and me. What am I gonna say to this idiot with all these people around?

"You know who this is?"

"Yeah." Sneering. "I know who this is."

"I'm coming for you. You won't know when it'll happen, but you'll see me soon, faggot."

"That's great!" I said, in that tone of voice I'd have used if it had, in fact, been something great. "I'm looking forward to it!" I was. And I am again, remembering that voice in my ear.

"[laughs] I'll bet you are, faggot."

Click. I was shaking with anger the rest of the day.

Over the years since, I hadn't heard too much about Bernie, and I heard nothing from him. After awhile, I was ready to just let it go. I didn't go seeking him out, and even though he was still posting that he got me fired--and even a couple times posting under my name--he was pretty quiet, and I figured he'd let it go as well.

A few months ago, maxfrost posted at PoE that he was making a documentary film about our favorite metal madman. Through the process, he's been keeping us informed as to the status of the film, as well as posting odds and ends he's dug up on Bernie. Entertaining but disgusting: somehow, this little troll of a man has reinvented himself as some kind of low-rent porn star. Once I get the movie, I'll post a nice, long review. No, not one of those movies. Max's, I mean.

And really, that brings us to today, the first time I've heard from Bernie in months. Checking out my "Frends" page here at LJ, I saw that max frost had posted something new... and that there were comments. One of them was addressed to "max frost, davincifag, and tiacunt", filled with the usual, half-literate vitriol that I've come to know and love., anonymously of course.

So that's it, really. Wow, I thought that'd take a bit more time and space, but there it is.

Like I said: I was willing to let this go, but no. A drug-crazed idiot has to act like a fourteen-year-old about what people think of him on the fucking internet and can't let it go. That's fine. I'm where I've always been, man. Right here. And I'll be here. Net cost of this whole thing to me remains the same: one free e-mail account. That's it, little man. That's all the harm you've been able to do to me. You obviously want to do this, so here's your chance. Bring it on over, Bernie. You're about as scary-spooky as a Scooby-Doo villain, but with half the depth of character. You drop a phrase like "not far from Detroit?" like a threat, like you want to come for me, even though you're posting from a Cali IP? Coward. I'm right here, baby. Drop the bullshit for once. A lot of my friends have heard the story and they say, "well, what was the music like?" I'd love to be able to refer them somewhere. Long-time Microsoft employees Gabe Newell and Mike Harrington founded Valve in 1996. After securing a license to the Quake engine (through the help of friend Michael Abrash of id Software) in late 1996, they commenced working on Half-Life. Originally planned for release in late 1997, Half-Life launched on November 19, 1998. Valve acquired TF Software PTY Ltd. in May of 1998, the makers of the Team Fortress mod for Quake with the intent to create a standalone Team Fortress 2 game. The Team Fortress Classic mod, essentially a port of the original Team Fortress quake mod, was released for Half-Life in 1999. Team Fortress 2 is due to be released October 9, 2007 bundled with Half-Life 2: Episode Two along with a game called Portal.
Valve continued work on Half-Life, releasing several more extensions to the game and collaborated with other developers to port it to other platforms. They also took on-board the development of the highly popular Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat Half-Life mods.

Valve announced its Steam content delivery system in 2002. At the time, it looked to be a method of streamlining the patch process common in online computer games. Steam was later revealed as a replacement for much of the dated framework of WON and Half-Life multiplayer and also as a distribution system for entire games.
Between 2002 and 2005, Valve was involved in a complex legal showdown with its publisher, Vivendi Universal (under Vivendi's brand Sierra Entertainment). It officially began on August 14, 2002 when Valve sued Sierra for copyright infringement, alleging that the publisher illegally distributed copies of their games to Internet cafes. They later added claims of breach of contract, accusing their publisher of withholding royalties and delaying the release of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero until after the holiday season.
Vivendi fought back, saying that Gabe Newell and marketing director Doug Lombardi had misrepresented Valve's position in meetings with the publisher. Vivendi later countersued, claiming that Valve's Steam content distribution system attempted to circumvent their publishing agreement. VUG sought intellectual property rights to Half-Life and a ruling preventing Valve from using Steam to distribute Half-Life 2.
On November 29, 2004, Judge Thomas S. Zilly of U.S. Federal District Court in Seattle, WA ruled in favor of Valve Corporation. Specifically, the ruling stated that Vivendi Universal and its affiliates (including Sierra) were not authorized to distribute Valve games, either directly or indirectly, through cyber cafés to end users for pay-to-play activities pursuant to the parties' current publishing agreement. In addition, Judge Zilly ruled that Valve could recover copyright damages for infringements without regard to the publishing agreement's limitation of liability clause.[2] Valve posted on the Steam website that the two companies had come to a settlement in court on April 29, 2005.[3] Electronic Arts announced on July 18, 2005 that they would be teaming up with Valve in a multi-year deal to distribute their games, replacing Vivendi Universal from then onwards.[4]
As of May 24, 2007 over 150 PC games are available on Steam, and there are approximately 13 million active users.[5]

K. Thor Jensen (born Kristopher Thor Jensen on August 4, 1976 in Maple Valley, Washington) is a U.S. illustrator, cartoonist, and comics creator. He is best known for co-founding the Portal of Evil website, and for his own website A Short and Happy Life. His 300-page graphic novel Red Eye, Black Eye was published in January 2007 by Alternative Comics.

K. Thor Jensen's first name remains unclear, because he provided different ones in interviews:
"Kristopher" on an alleged high school disciplinary record he provided[1].
"Kristopher" on his mid-2006 wedding invitation[2].
"Killer" in a late 2006 interview, allegedly his parents' homage to "The Killer" (nickname of Jerry Lee Lewis)[3].
"Krishna", "Kosher", "Kwality"[4], etc., alleged from him in older interviews.
His middle name was, according to him, his father's homage to the Marvel Comics superhero "The Mighty Thor"[5].
As of 2006, he lives in Queers, New York (with his wife Sara Bee Jensen, a textile designer). His day job is project manager for GameLab. In parallel, he is a cartoonist with several works published, such as his 1998-1999 strip "A Short and Happy Life" in The Stranger (Seattle weekly), various short comics in anthologies (from Top Shelf, About Comics, or Alternative Comics), and more on the way: his 300-page graphic novel Red Eye, Black Eye, after being serialized from 2002 to 2005 as a webcomic on Serializer, was released in January 2007 by Alternative Comics.
Jensen has appeared on a number of television programs, including The People Of New York Vs. Jerry Sadowitz in 2001, Blind Date in 2005 (where he alleged that he had appeared in a string of homosexual porn movies[6]), and Cash Cab in 2006.

I have to show someone these pictures – the subject has been a pain the ass for weeks (LOL FART), but my friends don’t even want to hear the slightest detail, and though my mom wants to know I’m okay, she doesn’t want to see close-ups of my ass blood (we’re a very conservative sort of family in that regard).

However, when you think "disgusting images of things that can go horribly wrong with the human body," you think Portal of Evil!

I took them in case something unfortunate happened and I needed to sue my doctor - thankfully not needed yet. They’re pretty damn gross, but not reaching the level of Rotten.com.

My backside had been itching quite a bit during the week before Thanksgiving. Giving it an extra scrubbing in the shower didn’t do any good, and the irritation got steadily worse. Finally, that Friday I dropped trou in front of the mirror, looked over my shoulder and saw…

"Hi, JRR! I’m Harry the Hateful Hemorrhoid, and I’m here to make your life miserable!"

One trip to my HMO-approved doctor later, I was told that, yes, it was a hemorrhoid, yes, lots of people my age get them (especially when they sit in front of a computer all day) and no, there was no need to operate. All I needed was a full battery of Preparation H-brand products: creams, oils and… suppositories. Have you ever had to stick a suppository up your ass? If not, your life isn’t that bad. (More importantly, has anyone found a suppository fetish site? I’ve seen tampon and enema fetish sites…)

And so, three times a day for the next week, I smeared goop on and shoved little white tubes up my ass. I wish I was doing it for fun, because it sure didn’t help the roid:

Ouch. OUCH. What was once a minor irritation now felt like a clothespin covered with Tobasco sauce had been clamped directly on my asshole - and the smell of Tobasco had attracted ants.

Another doctor appointment was made for the next day, but by that morning things had become serious:

Take a ripe green grape and place it between your butcheeks. Now pick up a red-hot poker and STAB STAB STAB yourself in the anus. This is what your should do to distract yourself from the pain of a thrombosed hemorrhoid.

That’s what the doc diagnosed - Thrombosed Hemorrhoids. This meant that a blood clot had formed in the roid, and that surgery had to be done. Whee. As a nurse held my cheeks apart, the doc repeatedly stabbed me DIRECTLY IN THE ANAL SPHINCTER with a needle full of anaesthetic. It worked amazingly well, as I didn’t feel a thing later when he rooted around my backside and pulled out "two blood clots the size of acorns."

Then the doctor said the second most horrifying thing a doctor can say ("Oops!" being the first).

"Becky, how do you stop all this bleeding? My regular nurse usually does it for me."

...

I do NOT want my death certificate to list the cause of death as "anal hemorrhage."

Becky somehow stopped the flow, slapped a wad of gauze between the hams and sent me off with a prescription for some painkillers. The next two days were spent laying on the couch and eating nothing but hydrocodone (how in the world did Rush Limbaugh manage to get addicted to this pussy drug? I ate about 20 pills in two days and have no desire at all for more of those… sweet… sweet… pills…).

Three days after the surgery, my ass still looked pretty horrible:

A week later, it looks amazingly normal. Outside of a bit of redness and a scar, it looks as decent as an anus can get (sorry, no picture – I’m saving that for my spread in Manhole magazine).

Interestingly, when the little purple bump first appeared, I tried to do a Google search to find a picture of roids on the internet for some self-diagnosis, but was only able to find vague illustrations and mind-blowingly horrible pictures of massive hemorrhoids that make mine look like a pimple. So, I may be the first guy to put a picture of a "normal" roid on the Internet. I’m not the first one to post a picture of his ass on PoE, though – does anyone remember the name of the chubby site owner who bent over and spread in an attempt to blind us all?
